The Prescription Assistance Program (PAP)
Under this program, qualifying individuals, whether or not they are patients of the Saluda Medical Center, can obtain prescriptive drugs at almost no cost. PAP is for everyone in the area who is eligible and does not have prescription insurance, regardless of where they receive medical care.
Little paperwork is required to become eligible for this confidential program. Just a couple of short forms to complete plus documentation to show household (not just individual) income allows the program administrator to quickly determine eligibility. After the patient’s doctor approves the request, the medication, usually a three-month supply, is made available to the patient. Rather than a sliding scale fee, there is a standard five dollar fee per prescription that everyone must pay to offset administrative expenses. Interested people may first want to call: 828-749-4411 and ask for the PAP which is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Or, email Pat Sandahl at saludamedicalcenterrx@charter.net.
